Press release no:18 - Reg Vardy helps DVLA remind drivers to update their details

Release Date: 03/11/2005

Reg Vardy is supporting DVLA’s accuracy campaign by displaying “Update Your Details” countertop display cards in all its dealerships across the UK. Drivers are being reminded to update their vehicle and driving licence details as part of an ongoing DVLA campaign.

On average one in five drivers in the UK fail to notify DVLA when their details change and this impacts on the work of the Police and local councils to reduce car crime and improve road safety. It is a legal requirement to hold an accurate, up to date driving licence and motorists who fail to notify DVLA of a change in name and/or address could face a £1000 fine.

"We are delighted that Reg Vardy has agreed to help support the campaign. We are encouraging motorists to MOT their paperwork in the same way they MOT their car. Keeping your driving documents up to date is as important as checking your car is roadworthy." said Linda Weaver, Head of Accuracy at DVLA.

Reg Vardy spokesman, says "Reg Vardy is committed to helping with road safety and car crime reduction initiatives, and we are pleased to be in a position to promote DVLA's accuracy campaign in our dealerships."

Notifying DVLA of changes in name and address is free and simple to do. For further information on how to update your driving licence and/or vehicle registration certificate go to your local post office® or log on to www.direct.gov.uk/motyourpaperwork
