Directions

By Car

From the South:

 

  • follow the A90
  • on approaching Aberdeen follow the signs for City Centre taking you over the River Dee at King George VI Bridge
  • join the right hand lane on approaching the roundabout at the end of the Bridge
  • turn right on to Riverside Drive and follow the River Dee (on your right)
  • continue forward until you approach another roundabout at which you should take the 2nd exit (straight across on to North Esplanade West)
  • continue forward entering the left hand lane with a view to taking a left turn at the traffic lights on to Market Street
  • remaining in the left lane, you will move forward through another set of traffic lights, following which you should enter the middle lane of the carriageway with a view to carrying forward, remaining on Market Street
  • at the top of the hill (T junction), you should enter the right hand lane with a view to turning right on to Union Street
  • from Union Street, take the 2nd exit on the left (at next set of traffic lights), entering Broad Street
  • gallowgate is a continuation of Broad Street, you will see Marischal College on your right and St Nicholas House (Local Authority Building) on your left
  • carry on forward passing through 2 sets of traffic lights
  • immediately after the 2nd set of lights, you should turn right into the large open air car park, Greyfriars House is on your right and the Local Office entrance is at the end of the building

From the North (Inverness and the Airport):

  • follow the A96, signs for the City Centre (the A96 leads, in more or less a straight road on to Great Northern Road and Powis Terrace)
  • at the end of Powis Terrace a set of traffic lights lead to a fork junction, where you should branch left, following signs for the Harbour
  • continue forward until you approach a large roundabout (Causewayend)
  • take the third exit off the roundabout on to the Gallowgate
  • continue forward, you will see Aberdeen College on the right and housing on your left
  • just before approaching a set of traffic lights, take a left turn into the large open air car park, Greyfriars House is on your right and the Local Office entrance is at the end of the building

By Bus

  • most bus services set down on Union Street, which is a short walk following the above directions

By Train

  • nearest railway station is at Guild Street, Aberdeen (0.5 miles)
